Description
Description
Taurine is an essential part of any cat's diet. Cats cannot synthesize enough taurine on their own, so additional taurine supplementation is necessary if you are preparing homemade raw or cooked diets. Taurine deficiencies can lead to serious illnesses such as:
- Blindness
- Retinal degeneration
- Weakness in the heart muscle
- Reproductive problems
- Insufficient growth in kittens
- Central nervous system disturbances
- Spinal deformities in kittens
- Immune system problems
For dogs, taurine is highly recommended for breeds that typically show a deficiency, if your dog needs nutritional support for the cardiac or nervous system, or if you feed them a homemade cooked diet or one with grains and/or legumes.
